Cryo Tubes

TPP cryo tubes with external thread and star foot are designed for storage of biological material and samples down to -196°C.

During storage build up of stress on the product can happen. The TPP design and the high quality material ensure safe handling.

Features of the cryo tubes:

the geometry of the external thread allows TPP to dispense with a silicone ring, enabling a secure and tight closure of the tube
The external thread results in a smooth internal surface, eliminating undue loss of sample material during removal.
Color-coded inserts in a range of colours provide convenient marking and identification
Supplied in convenient, puncture- and tear-resistant re-sealable bags with zip and laser perforation

Locking system:

Single-handed operation is possible when using TPP cryo tubes with the cryogenic rack # 99016 with its locking system in the grooves.

Laser perforation:

The laser perforation facilitates the initial opening of the pouch; no auxiliary opening aids are required. An intact laser perforation also acts as a security seal.

Zipper:

The re-sealable zip mechanism of the zipper allows the bag to be opened and closed easily and repeatedly. This is useful for bags with large contents.

Recommendations

TPP recommends to use cryo tubes for storage in the gas/vapor phase above the liquefied nitrogen (LN₂).
However, if you chose to store in the liquid LN₂ TPP recommends the use of additional wrapping such as welded tubes. Through a small entry ports - such as not correctly tighten caps - LN₂ can enter the vial. During defrosting the port is to small for the fast expanding LN₂ . The result is, that the material cannot withstand the high pressure and will explode. The spread of the contents and contamination can be the result.

Always use appropriate safety equipment and procedures.

Filling Volume

It is important, that the Cryo tubes are not filled up to the maximal possible filling volume. This is so the cell suspension has the possibility to expand during the freezing process (recom: 0.2 ml less than max. graduation of the tubes).
